Something that could’ve been exciting is just blah. Overall, it was an okay read, but I’m not sure I want to read Wicked now after reading this one. In the novel, Clara refuses to accept Margarethe, which is different from the fairy tale where she is simply victimized.

Iris is by far the most interesting character in the book, and her constant observations about women’s roles and beauty are the best parts of the book. Though I was not impressed by this story’s Cinderella Claraa character I have always adored, Iris more than makes up for her as a strong and likeable heroine.
