But the Earl, dwelling in a rotting stone castle, surrounded with disgruntled soldiers and assisted by a treacherous Italian woman who practices sorcery, is suffering under a strange family curse involving a seeming gelatinous creature that dwells in a fetid pit in the sea-marsh.
Those who are looking for a different kind of historical adventure novel, or are interested in stories rows during the English Civil War, might also find much to enjoy but it should agujerl stated that these elements are mere backdrop to what is, in essence, a moody Gothic “Curse” story.
