Well, I think I will do the piecemeal approach like you said. It sounds like you are wasting a lot of your time on unnecessary things, or maybe you are greatly overestimating how much time you actually spend on Japanese. Use furigana if you think they won’t understand your kanji usage.
Have you tried Yotsubato? Right after that, I have a language exchange with a friend in Japan. So instead of accomodating your learning needs, they accomodate their need to make the most money for the least amount of effort.
